Breaking: Cash-in-Transit Robbery Sparks Chaos on N3 Westbound in Durban

Durban – Motorists are urged to avoid the N3 westbound after reports of a cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery involving gunfire near the Jan Smuts Avenue/Sherwood off-ramp on Friday afternoon.

The incident was reported at approximately 4:54pm, with multiple emergency alerts indicating that suspects targeted a cash-in-transit vehicle on the N3 westbound, just after the Jan Smuts Avenue off-ramp in Sherwood.

Initial reports indicate that shots were fired during the robbery. The exact number of suspects involved and whether anyone has been injured has not yet been confirmed.

Traffic has been severely affected, with motorists advised to avoid the N3 westbound from the Jesus Dome on-ramp towards Spaghetti Junction while emergency services and law enforcement respond to the scene.

Authorities are expected to close or restrict sections of the highway as investigations and crime scene processing get underway.
