A 58-year-old man was apprehended by the community after he was caught by his wife raping their neighbor in her home in an informal area in Buffelsdrai.

Residents went on and contacted a local security company for assistance. The officers responded to the call and brought with them medics.

The suspect`s wife told the officers that she was going to do a health check-up on her neighbor as she had consumed a lot of alcohol the previous night. She said as she entered the house of the neighbor, she found her husband having sexual intercourse with her.

She told the husband to stop what he was doing but he allegedly continued. She thereafter went on to call for assistance from neighbors.

When she returned with the members of the community, they found him still having sexual intercourse with the woman. He then ran from the house as he noticed the crowd approaching. The residents managed to apprehend him.

The medics proceeded to the victim`s residence and found her asleep. When she woke up, she told them that she could not comprehend what had happened as she was still under the influence of alcohol from the previous night’s drinking.

The suspect and victim were handed over to the South African Police for further investigation.
