JAKARTA – A total of three crew members and a passenger of a SAM Air flight were killed when the plane crashed in a rice paddy area near Bumi Panua Pohuwato Airport in Gorontalo province today, CNN Indonesia news channel reported.
“That’s right, as many as four people were killed when the plane crashed,” said an official at the Gorontalo Search and Rescue Office, Heriyanto.
CNN Indonesia reported that the body of the plane was covered in water and mud at the crash site, while the front part including the nose of the plane was destroyed.
The plane with registration number PK SMH took off from Djalaluddin Airport to Bumi Panua Pohuwato Airport.
However, at around 7.03am (local time), the plane carrying three crew members and a woman reportedly lost contact and crashed.
The combined search and rescue (SAR) team that was deployed to the crash site found four victims in a lifeless state.
